A group of 16 students and 7 teachers today paid a visit to Maraburong Prison in Tutong to find out more about life behind the bars.
The day started off early with everyone gathering at the centre to listen to a briefing by the prison’s officers which included its history, roles and functions.
After the talk, the group toured the premises including making stops at the cells, segregation unit, visitors room, prison kitchen, library and workshop.
They also watched a caning demonstration and were given the opportunity to try out the various canes used on prisoners convicted under the civil and syariah courts.
