SUAMPRIPAD awards top students of 2011

The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School (SUAMPRIPAD honoured its top students for their hard work in achieving excellent academic results in the previous year (2011) in an award ceremony at the school’s main hall.

A total of 102 students received certificates and plaques which were presented to them by the guest of honour, Acting Assistant Director of Islamic Studies Department, Hjh Rusita binti Hj Yahya.

Hjh Rusita said she was proud that the school has shown improvement from year to year. She lauded the recipients for their efforts and expressed her hope that the students will continue to work hard.

She also urged all the students to take the event as a motivation to succeed in their studies and added that the only way to achieve success is by studying hard.

In her opening remarks, the school’s principal, Ustazah Dyg Hjh Sarimah binti Hj Ahmad congratulated the recipients and expressed her gratitude to the teachers and parents for their encouragement and support.

The school achieved a 100-per-cent passing rate for the Brunei Religious Education Certificate Examination (SPUB), with 71.9 per cent obtaining seven to nine credits. Meanwhile, for the BGCE ‘O’ Level exams, the school achieved an 80.6-per-cent passing rate with 59 per cent obtaining five to 11 credits.

The Best Student Award for the BGCE ‘O’ Level examination went to Izyan Nayli binti Hj Abdul Aziz, who scored nine distinctions (seven A* and two A), while the Meritorious Award went to Lina Musfirah binti Hj Abd Wahab.

The highlight of the event was a presentation of the Exemplary Student Award to Elia Ajeeratul Marhain binti Umar, who also received the Academic Excellence Award and Best Student Award for the SPUB examination. The Year 11 student scored a total of 16 distinctions – eight distinctions in the SPUB exam and another eight distinctions in the BGCE ‘O’ Level exam.

The event was also attended by parents and other invited guests.
